My Great-Grandfather and I by James Krüss

My Great-Grandfather and I is not so popular, and a really nice story by James Krüss. It was first written in Germany, where the author was born, in 1959, and then translated into English in 1964. The book is about a boy and his great-grandfather who share a special friendship. They teach each other about life, stories, and how to write poems.

In the story, the boy goes to stay with his great-grandfather on an incredible island called Helgoland. They have a lot of fun together! The grandfather helps the boy learn how to write and tell stories. The book is great for kids like me who want to be writers because it shares a lot of wise writing advice. It’s a heartwarming tale about family and creativity!

My first acrostic poem.

James Krüss was a German writer who was born in 1926 and died in 1997. He wrote many books for children, including picture books, poems, and stories. He also drew pictures and wrote plays and scripts. James loved collecting children’s poems and folk songs, too! Because he did such a great job writing for kids, he won the Hans Christian Andersen Award in 1968.

I dare you to find the book, read it, and share your favourite poem. Mine uses the alphabet to start every line. Well, at least in Bulgarian.

Dara out.
